CastMe (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates castme.wtf. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you use the site, how it is used, and what choices you have. CastMe is designed to be playable without accounts, logins, or personal profiles.

1. What we collect

A. Information you provide

CastMe does not require you to create an account, and we do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or password in order to play the free game. If you contact us by email, we will receive whatever information you include in that message (such as your email address and message content) so we can respond.

If you purchase CastMe Premium, our payment processor (Stripe) collects the email address and payment details needed to process your subscription. We receive and store your email address, a Stripe customer identifier, and your subscription status — we do not receive or store your card number or other full payment details, which are handled directly by Stripe. This email is used only to confirm your subscription, manage billing, and let you restore Premium access on a new device; it is not used for marketing and is not required to play the free game. Today's puzzle and the past 2 days of each archive are free without Premium.

Daily reminders (optional). You can choose to give us your email address so we send you a message when a new daily puzzle drops (currently around 9am in the timezone you provide). If you do, we store your email address, the anonymous device identifier ("anon ID") already used to track your local gameplay, and your timezone, so the reminder arrives at the right time. This is a separate, opt-in feature — it is not required to play, and it is not linked to a CastMe Premium subscription unless you happen to use the same email for both. Every reminder email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing stops future emails immediately.

Push notifications (optional). On supported devices/browsers, you can instead (or additionally) enable browser push notifications for the same daily reminder. If you do, your browser generates a push subscription (an endpoint URL and encryption keys, standard to the Web Push API) which we store so we can deliver the notification — we do not receive any other information from your browser as part of this. You can revoke this at any time through your browser or device notification settings.

Premium interest list (optional). If you express interest in CastMe Premium (for example, before a feature is fully available to you), we store the email address you provide, along with your anon ID, so we can notify you when it's ready. This list is separate from active Premium subscriptions and from the daily-reminder list above.

B. Anonymous gameplay information

To operate and improve the game, we may collect anonymous gameplay events such as:

C. Local storage (your device)

CastMe uses localStorage in your browser to store gameplay state such as your streak and local stats. This data stays on your device. Clearing site data in your browser may reset your streak and stats.

D. Server logs and hosting

Like most websites, our hosting providers may process standard server logs (such as request timestamps, device/browser information, and error logs). These logs are used for security and performance monitoring. We also use Vercel Analytics to understand aggregate site traffic (such as page views and general visit counts); this does not use tracking cookies and is not used to build individual profiles.

E. Third-party movie metadata

CastMe uses third-party movie and TV metadata services to display cast information across Movies, TV Shows, and Connections puzzles. This product uses the TMDb API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDb.

F. Payment processing (Stripe)

If you subscribe to CastMe Premium, your payment is handled entirely by Stripe, a PCI-compliant third-party payment processor. Stripe collects and stores your payment method details directly; CastMe never receives or stores your full card number. We store only the minimum needed to manage your subscription: your email address, a Stripe customer ID, and your current subscription status. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your reminder or Premium-interest email for any purpose other than the one you signed up for.

Data retention

Anonymous gameplay data is retained only as long as it is useful for operating and improving the game. Aggregated statistics may be stored to understand puzzle difficulty, success rates, and overall performance trends. We do not attempt to link this information back to individual users.

If you contact us by email, we retain that correspondence only for as long as necessary to respond or resolve the issue you raised.

If you subscribe to CastMe Premium, we retain your email address, Stripe customer ID, and subscription status for as long as needed to administer your subscription and let you restore access on a new device. If you cancel your subscription, we may retain this record for a reasonable period afterward for billing history and support purposes.

If you sign up for daily reminders, we retain your email (or push subscription) and timezone until you unsubscribe or revoke notification permission, at which point we stop sending further reminders. If you join the Premium interest list, we retain that email until we've notified you or you ask us to remove it.

Regional privacy rights

Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding how your data is processed. For example, users in some regions may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information.

Because CastMe does not require accounts and does not intentionally collect personal identifiers for gameplay, many of these rights are satisfied by design. If you have questions about regional privacy rights, you may contact us using the email address listed below.

International users

CastMe is operated from servers that may be located in different jurisdictions. By using the site, you understand that information may be processed in locations outside your country of residence, subject to applicable laws and safeguards.

Security and data protection

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information processed through CastMe. These measures are designed to prevent unauthorized access, misuse, or loss of data within the limits of a lightweight, browser-based game.

Because CastMe does not rely on user accounts or centralized personal profiles, the amount of sensitive information involved is intentionally limited. Gameplay progress and streaks are primarily stored locally on your device rather than on our servers.

No method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure. While we strive to use commercially reasonable protections, we cannot guarantee absolute security. Users should take standard precautions when accessing any online service.

Data minimization

CastMe is built with a data-minimization philosophy. We collect only the information necessary to operate the game, understand aggregate performance, and maintain reliability. Features are intentionally designed to function without requiring personal identifiers whenever possible.

3. Advertising (Google AdSense)

CastMe may display advertisements served by third-party advertising services, such as Google AdSense. These advertisements help support the operation and maintenance of the site.

When ads are displayed, Google and its partners may use cookies, web beacons, or similar technologies to serve, measure, and personalize advertisements based on factors such as device type, browser information, general location, and interaction with ads.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

CastMe itself does not require cookies to function for core gameplay. Game features such as puzzles, streaks, and statistics rely primarily on local storage in your browser.

However, if advertising is enabled, third-party services (including Google AdSense) may use cookies or similar technologies as described above. These technologies are controlled by the third-party providers and are subject to their respective privacy policies.

If advertising features are added, removed, or modified, this Privacy Policy will be updated to reflect how data is collected and used.

5. Your choices

Policy scope

This Privacy Policy applies only to information processed through castme.wtf. It does not apply to external websites, services, or platforms that may be linked from the site, including third-party movie resources or advertising destinations.

We encourage users to review the privacy policies of any third-party services they interact with through external links.

6. Children’s privacy

CastMe is intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will address it.
